Here’s the fall 2026 lineup we’d plan a weekend around, verified against the city’s official calendar.
September is the local-secret month

The following Saturday, October 10, the Fall Block Party takes over Asbury Avenue from 5th to 14th Street, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with more than 400 crafters and food vendors, and merchants run Discount Days all of that holiday weekend. Then the island goes to the dogs, literally: Dog Days, October 24-25, is the one weekend leashed dogs are allowed on the boardwalk (9 to 5 Saturday, 9 to 3 Sunday), complete with vendors, photo stations, and the Howl-O-Ween costumed pet parade Saturday at 3 p.m. Halloween proper brings the Exchange Club’s Halloween Parade down Asbury Avenue from 6th to 11th Street at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 29; bring a chair and get there early for candy range. November and December: small-town holiday mode
Late-season anchors: Earlier Than the Bird downtown shopping on November 21, Christmas in the Downtown with Santa’s arrival November 27, the Christmas Parade on Asbury Avenue at 6 p.m. on December 4, Santa photos and carriage rides on December weekends, and First Night, the family New Year’s Eve festival, December 31 with midnight fireworks.
By late fall Ocean City becomes a small town that happens to have an ocean. Earlier Than the Bird (November 21, 8 a.m. to noon) has downtown shopping in pajamas the weekend before Thanksgiving; Thanksgiving weekend itself kicks off Christmas in the Downtown on November 27, with Santa arriving at 5 p.m., then horse-and-carriage rides, Santa photos at the Music Pier, and downtown Santa visits every weekend into late December. The Christmas Parade runs Asbury Avenue at 6 p.m. on December 4.
